Free Summer Meals United Way of King County dishes out tasty and nutritious, free summer meals for kids and teens aged 18 and under at places where your family lives, learns, and plays—including schools, parks, community centers, and faith-based organizations. We lead the statewide Free Summer Meals Program in partnership with our state education agency, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. Together, we’re working to make access to healthy food as quick and easy as possible: No fee, sign-up, or proof of identity or legal status is required. Many sites also offer fun activities that help kids stay active and engaged when school is out. Federal program rules have changed. At most sites, kids and teens need to be present to receive a meal and meals need to be eaten on-site. Some sites in rural areas offer Meals-to-Go, which can be taken off-site and eaten at home. https://www.uwkc.org/need-help/food-resources/#freeMeals

The SUN Bucks benefits, a one-time payment of $120 per eligible child in each household, will be deposited onto existing SUN Bucks cards starting the first week of June and mailed to newly eligible children beginning in mid-June. Some children will get SUN Bucks automatically and others must apply. Students can auto-qualify if they either: Are age 8 – 18 and are a member of a household that receives benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. Attend a school that offers the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program and is directly certified for free or reduced-price school meals or meets income requirements reported through a Child Nutrition and Eligibility and Education Benefit Application. Parents or guardians of students who do not qualify automatically can apply by submitting a SUN Bucks application(opens in a new window). To qualify for SUN Bucks by application, these students must both: Be enrolled at a school that participates in the NSLP or SBP. Live in a household that meets NSLP Income Eligibility Guidelines(opens in a new window) to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. The SUN Bucks application is online in English(opens in a new window) and Spanish(opens in a new window). Applications will be accepted through Aug. 29, 2025. SUN Bucks benefits are in addition to other Summer Child Nutrition Programs(opens in a new window) already offered. Families can continue participating in group-site and grab-n-go meals as well as other summer food programs at their local schools and community locations, even if they receive Summer EBT benefits. Families who need to apply or who have other questions about SUN Bucks benefits(opens in a new window) can call the SUN Bucks Contact Center at 833-543-3230 (TTY: 800-833-6348) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday–Friday (except holidays). Families can opt in for text messaging alerts about their child’s SUN Bucks status at textsunbucks.dshs.wa.gov(opens in a new window).

Good afternoon, Tigers. This afternoon, one of our busses (16) encountered mechanical trouble during its afternoon route. The driver stopped and evacuated everyone safely. The engine did catch fire, but it has been extinguished. All students and staff are safe.

Prescott 7th and 8th graders were treated to the STEM Foundation's "STEM Like Me" Explore Event yesterday. Professionals from a variety of companies and agencies shared their careers and stories with our students. Hopefully it started some Tigers thinking more about careers in STEM. Our thanks to Cristen Yurkoski of the STEM Foundation, Michael Yurkoski of Cadwell, Ryan Crane and Nell McGuan of DFW, Derek Uemura of Nelson Irrigation, and Dillon Benitez and Tiffany Stoeckig-Dixon of the USACE!

There was an intense basketball contest this morning in the big gym! After warming up together with some stretching and yoga, 2nd grade took on 9th grade on the basketball court. There were abundant smiles and laughter It is such a privilege to have a campus that houses all grade levels so these types of things can happen!
