On Wednesday, May 7th, Prescott students participated in Carnegie Picture Lab's second Audio Engineering Workshop with Rodney Outlaw and Tia Kramer.
This time students partnered up with WWCC students on the Touchet River capturing its sounds. The final workshop takes place this Wednesday as students will create their own album of the Touchet.
Our thanks to Central Washington University for hosting our Prescott Tigers on Thursday, May 8th! Students were treated to a campus tour, information on admissions and financial aid, an all-you-can-eat lunch, and a Planetarium show!
The purpose of the trip sponsored by GEAR UP was to acquaint students with an option for pursuing their postsecondary goals.

A special thanks to Agri Northwest for hosting Joanna and Pedro yesterday on their farm! Agri Northwest is the largest potato farm in the U.S. with 20, 000 acres in Eureka and 80,000 in the Plymouth area.
The Prescott students were able to see how welding and welders are an essential part of the farm. Both students found the experience worthwhile as they gained a glimpse into the day in the life of an agricultural welder.

Several Prescott students participated yesterday in the first of three Audio Engineering Workshops with Rodney Outlaw of WWCC. Our own artist-in-residence Tia Kramer coordinated the opportunity with Rodney.
Students from Rodney's Audio Engineering class acted as instructors and taught Prescott students how to use state-of-the-art sound equipment.
The Tigers learned how to use hyper-sensitive microphones along with sound mixing software. The workshops will culminate in an audio project entitled "The Voice of Our River".
Gordon Hartwig, Alan Figueroa, Valeria Osorio, Valentina Garcia, Andrea Balbuena, Laura Dib, and Jenifer Roman will be recording on the Touchet River next Wednesday.

Great news, Tigers - Last night, at our April board meeting, our Directors announced that Jeff Foertsch will be our new Superintendent, replacing our current Superintendent, Justin Bradford, who will be taking over the Executive Director of Special Education position at ESD 123 starting July 1st. Mr. Foertsch is a long-time employee of the Prescott school district who has immense experience as a leader and educator. He brings dedication, determination and calm to this role, and is an outstanding choice to lead our district through its current challenges and beyond. Welcome, Mr. Foertsch!!! GRRR!!!

SBA testing starts April 29th. Please be sure students get plenty of rest to start the day ready to go. We will be testing Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks. Grades 3-8 and 10 take the SBA state test in Math and ELA. Grades 5, 8, and 11 also take a Science test.

The High School band got to go spend the afternoon with the EWU Director of Band, Dr. Goodwin!! They also got to watch the University's top Wind Band practice!

Prescott Students experienced WWCC's Try-A-Trade Event on April 23rd. Students tried their hands at welding, audio engineering, cosmetology, criminology, and health care to name a few. It was a great opportunity to see what some of WWCC's programs were like.
Our thanks to Adrianna Mitalas, Epidemiologist with the Walla Walla County Department of Health for hosting Jackie Cardenas and Irma Serratos this morning. Adrianna shared what she does for public health and introduced Jackie and Irma to several of her colleagues in the department.
Jackie and Irma were impressed with the range and scope of what Adrianna and her co-workers do for the Walla Walla community.
